Miss Nine – Djane & Model
Miss Nine aka Kristin Schrot was born 9 March 1984 in the far east of Germany, where there are not a lot of changes. Miss Nine began her young career as a nurse in a hospital and she competed in a modeling contest. And she won! Nowadays she’s living in Amsterdam where she’s a dj, a model and has her own fashion column in Glamcult Magazine dreams can come true!
Miss Nine started to spin records at the age of 18. It only took her three months to get her first gig on Queensday on the Red Bull boat. After this gig she was asked to play at the first Motion party in the Musicfactory in Amsterdam. It was a very succesfull performance and therefore she was asked to be one of the resident dj’s of Motion.
The sounds of Miss Nine can be best described as energetic grooves with a lot of vocals. She also likes to play a little deeper, close to progressive, but that depends on the location, the crowd and the atmosphere.
Miss Nine already played with big names like SisterBliss, Kevin Saunderson, Layo & Bushwaka, Hybrid, Jack de Marseille, Ken Ishii and many more. In December 2003 she did a tour throughout Curaçao and Aruba, with a superb performance on the famous Mambo Beach. She also had her first appearance at the 10th edition of Dance Valley, where she was the youngest artist. This summer she played in Turkey, Germany, England and Tenerife.
In 2003, only a few months after touching the decks for the first time, she became a resident DJ at the legendary Motion parties where she evolved as an artist and DJ while playing alongside masters such as John Digweed, Dave Seaman, Nick Warren, and James Zabiela. 2003 was also the year that Miss Nine took to the decks as the youngest artist at the 10th edition of Dance Valley (renowned Dutch Dance Festival).
Since April 2004 Miss Nine has her own studio together with dj Sem Sonic. They are working on a few releases together.
At the end of 2005, Miss Nine was then asked by Grammy Award winning DJ duo, Deep Dish to join Bullitt Bookings, the reputable agency of A-list DJs. This allowed Miss Nine to enter the forefront of the international DJ scene for the first time.
In 2008, Miss Nine started her own record label called 925 Digital. Having spent so much time in the dance scene, she realized that there were too many excellent progressive-house tracks that didn’t get the release and the attention that they deserved. 925 Digital was created in order to ensure that this didn’t happen and bring progressive house, and the artists behind it, to prominence. Miss Nine performs all around the globe, spinning at clubs such as Privilege in Ibiza, Avalon in Los Angeles, Warung in Brazil, the Ministry of Sound in London and several Pacha’s around the world. She has also graced the main stage of the Ultra Music Festival in Miami, joining a line-up of, among others, Tiësto and David Guetta.
Miss Nine was the first female DJ to mix a compilation for Washington-based Yoshitoshi Recordings, the world-renowned leader in progressive and big-room house music. The highly anticipated Yoshitoshi Ibiza: Mixed by Miss Nine (YRCDLP15) was released in September 2006 and made it to the number 1 spot on iTunes in the United States. In June of 2008 Miss Nine also released an album on the world famous Armada label: Dancefloor Sessions (ARMA134). Her latest release was in 2010: Fantasia, which is available for purchase in Asia.
Nine Sessions is Miss Nine’s monthly radio show which is broadcasted in more than 35 countries and many stations, including DI.fm, Proton, Frisky and Dance Paradise. Since January 2011, Nine Sessions is also available as a podcast on iTunes. During this one-hour show, Miss Nine shares her favorite tracks of the moment with her listeners.
In 2010, Miss Nine became the ambassador of the revolutionary Levi’s® Curve ID line. To draw even more attention to this new line, she mixed the compilation album Levi’s® Curve ID. In addition to spinning at numerous events, which are actively being promoted in Europe and Asia, Miss Nine also hosted Levi’s® presents Miss Nine in the supperclub during the Amsterdam Dance Event in October of 2010.
Niss Nine is also now the face of Pioneer for their new Pioneer 350 series, turntables that are meant for amateur DJs. As part of a European-wide promotional campaign, video clips in which Miss Nine is demonstrating these turntables are being televised on MTV.
Besides deejaying Miss Nine is a fulltime model for Elite Model Management, which brings her around the world to do all kind of photo shoots, commercials and catwalk shows for beauty and fashion. Last season she became the face of the new brand Vittor Kahn from New York and she is often wearing VK clothes during her gigs.
